Albright Knot

Also known as the Albright Special.

Albright Knot

The Albright Knot is a bend knot that is great for connecting two fishing lines, particularly two lines of different diameters or materials such as a fluorocarbon leader to a braided main line. As it involves making multiple wraps around the mainline, it also allows an angler to ratchet up the number of wraps to increase the knot’s holding strength.

However, for the sake of simplicity many anglers opt for the easier Uni-to-Uni Knot, which is more straightforward to tie. Others find that slick, braided lines tend not to hold up well with a standard Albright Knot, and will instead choose the Improved Albright Knot or the FG Knot for more confidence in connecting braided line to monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders.
